Wale has a decent verse to add to Omarion’s energetic vocals. “M.I.A.” is at least more upbeat than the other shamelessly bedroom pandering tracks. There’s nothing special about anything in those songs, and so I just want to get them out the way. “Private Dancer,” “Out Loud,” and the song that follows the lame “Rozay Interlude,” “Trouble,” are R&B songs at their most standard. Not sure how that feature happened, but it’s always good to hear Trae, so thumbs up I guess. Moving on, this song’s unnecessary feature is occupied by a lyrically adequate Trae Tha Truth. I”ll be honest here, up until “M.I.A.” this EP sounds just like Omarion found some scrapped album tracks and said “Whatever.” The second song on the EP ,“Arch Your It,” has pretty good production, but Omarion’s lyrics are so contrived that he actually is singing with a cadence and phrasing ripped straight from 2Chainz… I repeat, Omarion flowing like 2Chainz. Overall, the track goes down well and is the only real album-worthy cut in this collection. R&B D-list member Tank is also on the track, but that’s pretty much all you can say about him. Actually, “Admire” probably would have been better as just a song by Problem featuring Omarion. The rapper on the song, Problem, absolutely kills the song. The first track of the EP is “Admire,” and with its hypnotic minimalistic intro, the song is the EP stand-out, and for that reason, not a good starting track. That’s not to say the intro isn’t good it’s just not really worth noting. The intro is a clusterfuck of R&B jargon mixed with airy 808’s and canned conversation. This isn’t that day though, and the Care Package EP, while good, is nothing close to spectacular. The day when Omarion puts all the focus on his unique voice that registers in a one of a kind sweet spot between a whiny and raspy will be the day he finally makes the quality music I know he can. As an avid R&B listener, I always thought Omarion was better than the material he put out. Omarion is a wasted talent as far as I’m concerned.
